Moss Rose

The Moss Rose (Portulaca grandiflora) is a cheerful, succulent annual famous for its vibrant, rose-like blooms that open fully only in bright sunlight. It features fleshy, cylindrical, moss-like leaves that line its trailing or mounding stems, creating a dense, low-growing carpet. Available in a spectrum of colors including red, yellow, pink, orange, white, and bi-colors, it blooms profusely from early summer until the first frost. This heat-loving plant thrives in full sun and extremely well-drained, sandy, or rocky soil, making it highly drought-tolerant and perfect for xeriscaping, rock gardens, and containers. It requires almost no maintenance and is resistant to deer and rabbits.
